wingate and symantec

hi if someone can tell me why symantec antivirus 8.0 every time that wingate 5.2.3 wants to star display a message that say a posible trojan horse is traing to access the network do you want to continue, on wingate 4.5 nothing of this happen. Why.

When you say WinGate wants to display a message, do you mean a syslog in Gatekeeper? Or do you mean when people try and access ther internet through WinGate, symantec av pops up this message? What activity is happening through WinGate when symantec does this?

no is not a syslog, or went people is accesing the network, the message is went wingate is starting.

Right so Norton's displays this message then?! In that case could you give us teh full message? Does it mention any particular ports in the message?

ok, no particular ports are mention. I dont now why wingate was disconecting so i uninstall and install wingate 4.5 again.

The most likely reason for this is WinGate's network enumeration. It uses standard Windows APIs to enumerate your local network, so it has information about the machines available for the Network pane in GateKeeper.

It is possible that Norton deems this to be 'trojan' like activity, and it is one feature that is fairly new (Version 5 of WinGate)

Is it possible to tell Norton to ignore WinGate in that case ?
