Client Proxy Configuration

Postby square » Mar 17 04 8:29 am

Yesterday I rebuilt our Wingate server, and now we have a very odd problem. Our system is set up so we have 4 WWW Services running (on 8080, 8081, 8082 and 8083). Registry fragments are merged when users log on to set on the local station which port should be used by a client to give them the correct level of access. Since re-building the server (running Windows 2000) whenever anybody logs on the proxy server in Internet Exploer is set to supacash:8081 instead of the setting allocated by the regfrags. Does Wingate perform client configuration, changing the proxy ports on our stations or does anyone know what else it could be? Wingate is our DHCP server as well so I was wondering if this is configuring the proxy settings on our clients (Running Win 98).

Thanks,
Matthew

Check if your Internet Explorer settings are set to discover their configuration automatically. This is the only way that WinGate can actually specify a proxy configuration.
