Hi,
I tried a search on this subject, but it wasn't helpful. I'm attempting to run Overnet (the filesharing app spawned by eDonkey) on a client computer accessing the net via Wingate.
Everything I do otherwise works fine - I can use Kazaa, FTP, check mail, etc, etc, but I CANNOT get Overnet to work on the client PC. The error I get is "UDP Port not open". My proxy settings are correct; I"ve read that UDP can only be routed using the Socks 5 protocol, so that's what I'm using. It's (socks 5) set up appropriately on the host PC, because Kazaa is using it.
The problem appears to be that my port forwarding attempts are not working. I've tried every configuration I have been able to think through, but I constantly get the "UDP Port not open" error. Overnet works perfectly on the host computer, but this is a temporary solution at best, and I'd love to be able to run Overnet from the client PC I actually use.
Can somebody give me a simple step by step guide as to how to set the port forwarding so that the client computer can have access (both to and from) the UDP port it requires?
Also, given that I'm not running any additional firewall software, and all my access to the net is handled by Wingate, is there any other reason this port forwarding might not be working? I'm about ready to pull out my hair by the roots.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Lyle
