WinGate 4.2

Postby Souhaibb » Mar 25 04 6:11 pm

Dear All,

I'm using Wingate Proxy.

I would like to open the following Ports in regard to access an virtual online class room.

Utility Ports to be opened
------ ----------------------

Chat 4445
Whiteboard 4567
Java Port 8009

Now in Wingate there are lot of Service options however I'm not sure which service should be create for the above mentioned ports.

Please advice.

With Regards,
Souhaibb

This depends on a few things. Are the connections coming in to your WinGate machine, or going out from a client PC through WinGate ?

Are you using WinGate Internet Client ? If that is the case, it should all be done automatically for you.

If not, it depends on the protocol it requires. I suspect TCP/IP, so the best service would probably be a TCP Mapping Service.

One side point though, if you have a full key for 4.x you can use that key in WinGate 5.2.3. You will not get access to the email server and some of the newer features, but you will get all the fixes and improvements.
