Steam and WinGate 5.2.3

Postby Phreak Show » Apr 09 04 8:51 am

Hi there,
I got a problem: I want to use WinRoute to connect my Notebook via my Desktop PC to the internet. On the notebook, I want to run a steam update, but it doesn't work. I know the ports which have to be "open" for steam, but I don't know how to "Open" (forward) them in WinRoute! The OS is Windows 98 SE on the notebook, and Windows Xp Professional on the desktop system. Thanks for your posts, greetings phreak show

Hi,

Are you using the WGIC on the laptop; Extended Networking (NAT); or individual proxy setups?

I had steam running though NAT without any problems, using a gateway address in the Local Area Connection on the client machine. With the client machines getting TCPIP information from the DHCP server in WG.

Good luck.

1st: Thanks for your answers...
2nd: I meant WinGate, of course :D
3rd: I'm using WGIC on the laptop, because when I install ENS on the server PC, I can't dial into internet any more.

@simon.fking: Can you please tell it in detail, because I'm a real newbie in those things ;)
