Wingate,Msn, and a Newbie

Postby hhmmm » May 05 04 12:56 pm

Hello guys,

i was wanting to know if someone can help me. ive had wingate for quite a while now but i was never really able to understand how to use it. i was wanting to know if someone could help me set it up so that msn video will work through a SOCKS connection or any other method available. ive read some things in the forum but i cant follow through. so if someone will be so kind enough to help a helpless newb haha it would be much appreciated. u can email me at dustbite2000@yahoo.com. thank you so very much

Hi,

You should be able to get a webcam working with messenger although you can't get the audio working. We've found that it works fine just on a default installation of WinGate, so if you install the software then don't make any changes it should work fine.

What problems are you seeing?

Regards,

Matt

thanks but i did install it and never made any changes except for changing the disconnect session after 60 seconds thing. that got annoying. but even so i cant have a video chat with someone or even play games online or download certain types of things like torrent files. i was hoping u could help me find a way to be able to do at least some of that. thanks

Can you describe your setup? What internal IP address range are you using? How are you connecting to the internet? Are you seeing any hits on the firewall when you try and connect to the videochat? Can you chat without the webcam? What happens when you try and connect the webcam?

ok well im using 192.168.1.100 as my server ip and the rest of the pc's are just hooked on dhcp i think so they have different ips like 192.168.1.23,45,77,56 etc etc. i connect to the internet using the WWW server and the SOCKS those are my main 2 connections. i dont think i see any firewall activity on the program although i havent checked. but it does tell me you are unable to use videochat. at first it said it was because of a NAT problem and i couldnt send files either but i updated to a newer wingate and then i could and now it plainly says that i cant connect to msn...ill have to double check....i dont know what to do

You have accepted the invitation to start viewing webcam.

~xxxxxxxxxxxxx~ has stopped viewing webcam with you.

it looks as if the person canceled it but they didnt. thats what it tells me....please let me know what u think soon...thanks!

I've got the same problem also ... I'm running the latest versions of both Wingate (6.0.4 - Build 1025) and MSN (7.0). The webcam was working fine 3 days ago but then it stopped working yesterday.

Please help.
