Relaying denied message from Wingate while sending mails out

Postby jprp » Jun 16 04 2:48 am

Hello All,

I am using Wingate 5.2.2. While I am sending mails out, most of the time I used to get an error message "Relaying denied, one of the recipent was rejected by the server". Then I used to stop the wingate engine and start it again mannualy. Some time I used to disconenct my Internet conenction also. After doing all the excerice, then only the mails will go out. This is happening very frequently, let say about 5 to 10 times a day. Is there is any settings in Wingate to avoid this error ?

All your comments appricaited
With best regards

Hi JP,

When you restart the WinGate engine do you get a syslog message about a new interface?

Is there any pattern to the emails that are being rejected? Is it only external addresses?

What do you have set on the domains tab in your WinGate email?

You should only be getting the relaying denied error when you're trying to send emails from a domain that is not listed in your domains tab.

Regards,

Matt

Thanks Matt, here is my answer about your questions.

1. When you restart the WinGate engine do you get a syslog message about a new interface?

No, I don't get any syslog while restarting the Wingate

2. Is there any pattern to the emails that are being rejected? Is it only external addresses?

Yes, All the time the problem occuring while sending it to external address.

3. What do you have set on the domains tab in your WinGate email?

I think you taking about the Email option on the System Tab. In this Domain tab, Now I have only one domain which is Server2000 (the name of our wingate server machine). No other domains listed on this tab. Basically we have three SMTP servers. 1. cnet2010.com, smtp.registeredsite.com and mail.emirates.net.ae, and all these three SMTP's are mapped in the SMTP tab in the Services sections. Do I need to add all these three domains in the Wingate Email domains sections also ?.

Awaiting for your vaulable answer.

Are you hosting the SMTP servers on your LAN? If you are then you need to remove the SMTP proxy from the services tab and configure the email on the system tab.

Add the three domains to the email tab, if they're on your LAN then they should be listed as local domains.

There is a document available on our website which should help you set up the WinGate mail server, you can find it here.....
