Port Forwarding Twice?

Postby surma884 » Sep 17 04 3:45 am

I am behind a router and I have 20 ports forwarded to my main computer where WinGate is installed (which makes it the gateway for my second computer). Now my second computer runs a FTP server on it. So would it be possible to port forward twice? Like a second time in WinGate?

Let's say I'm running the server on port 8000. So I forward the port to my wingate pc. Then I forward that port to my second pc. Is it possbile? If not then what is the workaround for it?

Thanks

Well, this depends. If your router has application support built in to it then yes this could work (as WinGate's NAT has applcaition support for FTP). However, this will only work if you run the FTP server on the standard port (21), as application support within the NAT is set to FTP's default (as i imagine your router's probably is as well).

So yes this shoudl work if, the router has application support built in to it, and you run your FTP server on port 21.
