Wingate 6.0.3 server on Win XP Pro SP2 suddenly reset

Postby jiandc » Sep 30 04 6:19 pm

Hello,

I have been having this problem since I upgraded to ver 6.
Wingate Server just suddenly reset.
After windows restarts, the message "The system has recovered from a serious error" pops up. I already disable History loging but it only reduced the frequency of the problem.

First of all, what is the module name the error dialog box shows when it pops up?

Secondly, do you have (by any chance) port 445 or 135 open for external connections?

I used NETSTAT -A and did not find the two ports.

Make sure that these ports are not on the list of allowed ports for external connections (Extended network support/Properties/Port security) and the default action for external connections is not "Allowed".

Got the BSOD again. It dsiplayed BAD_POOL_HEADER

I checked the settings and no ports are configured under "Connection from Internet" and the default action is "Deny".

Ok, that's some of the kernel drivers then - did it report anyhting else, like the driver name that caused the problem?

What Wingate build are you using? If not the latest one (1005, you can get the build number by choosing Help/About Gatekeeper menu option), try updating to the latest one. We will also need the details of your system, namely, what network card do you have installed, what other network products you are running (other firewalls, traffic shapers, etc).

We are using 6.0.3 build 1005.

The Server has two NICs, Broadcom NetExtreme (Compaq HP on-board) & D-Link DFE530TX. one facing our LAN and the other to the internet.

It has McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.0i and no other applications.

Can you send me the memory dump file that the system generates when this crash happens?

There are two things that I forgot to ask:
1. What processor/motherboard does Wingate machine have?
2. Does this crash happens right after the system starts booting or it takes a while to display itself?

The server is an HP d530cmt (P4 3Ghz, 512Mb).
The crash occurs anytime

I Upgraded the on-board LAN card driver yesterday morning and so far WG did not crash/reset.
