External mailboxes

Postby Ekkas » Oct 05 04 10:01 pm

Installed Wingate 6 where clients all have external POP mailboxes, but they want to use Wingate so that all mail can stay on (wingate) server for backup/monitoring.

Under collection, I've set up an account with server/etc. settings and made it check every 1 minutes. The problem is, that Wingate never seems to check these boxes, as I've waited 20 minutes and nothing happened. Is there a way to see what's happening or at least force Wingate to check a POP mailbox so you can test if it's working.

Please help

You can check the activities if you switch on Debug for the SNMP Server and then have a look at the logfile for the POP3Collection (wingateprogrammdir/logs/...)

In the System pane
-Right click on Email
- click on Run POP3 mail collection.

I cannot find SNMP server and the POP3Collection.log shows nothing usefull. Also when I right-click and Run POP3 collection, it shows that it's checking, but even though there is mail in the external-mailbox and my setting are correct, no mail get received. I've tried all delivery options (parse/not parse address/etc.)

All I want, is each user has external box and must be delivered to single local mailbox. I've set up local domain (@mail) just to get local-addresses and in delivery I've entered each user@mail for the default delivery address linked to that ext-mail.

But (to me) it still seems that nothing is happening on collection. I'm using Panda Business secure anti-virus and had some problems using Pegasus mail through it, don't know if it's that. Having said that, MSO and OE works fine.

Please help, client is getting pissed of.

Thanks.

PS: I'd still like to see what's happening and why it cannot receive (error msg?)
The Pop3Collection.log shows only:
10/08/04 15:20:01 127.0.0.2 <system> 0000004274 Traffic 80 120 0 0 34s
10/08/04 15:21:29 127.0.0.2 <system> 0000004278 Traffic 80 120 0 0 37s
which is useless to me.

I think that should have been SMTP Server debug logging. The log file snippet you are seeing is a limited subset of the logging. Turn on all logging for the SMTP Server - that should give you an indiciation of where the problem is then.
