Please help, cannot log into wingate locally!

Postby pheakavoin » Oct 12 04 4:57 pm

Hi, everyone!

I just try a new version 6.0.3 with trial period yesterday!

I go to edit something in system policies from allowing everyone to a specific user. But unfortunately, I forget that user has no admin right.

Now i cannot log as administrator or any equivalent right accounts to mange anything.

What should I do beside the last way (reinstall) ?

Thanks

From the sound of it the easiest option might be to edit that policy directly. All applicable warnings on registry editing apply, so be sure you have a backup.

First, stop the WinGate Engine. Then, go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\DefaultRights\Access\Recipient0

It should be Recipient0, but there might be others. Check the value for "UserName" until you find the one you had changed the username to.

Then, change the value of "UserName" to "Everyone" and change the value of "SpecifyUser" to 0. (From 1)

Now you can restart the WinGate engine and you should have access rights again.

Thank you a lot dear Pascal,

I found and fix it with your good advice.

It is working now.

Have a nice day!
