Nothing is displayed in gatekeeper and internet not working

Hi!

Got a problem with my wingate 6.2.2 build 1137.
Sometimes, internet ceases to work, then I log on gatekeeper (it gives me an error message trying to log on) and after that the main window of gatekeeper is blank; nothing shows up !!??!!
I try stopping gatekeeper engine but it can't stop; always says "gatekeeper stopping"...
I reboot the server and everything is fine.

we have a couple of known issues that we believe are causing occasional lockups like you indicate.

for people experiencing this problem, we recommend:

1. disable any filtering you may have in history settings for what to store.

2. Make sure if you have more than one default gateway, that all are valid. We've seen problems with multi default gateways where not all work. How to tell what default gateways you have?

any entry where the network address is 0.0.0.0 is a default route, and the gateway associated with it is therefore a default gateway.

3. make sure you don't have any AV software installed that is scanning the WinGate folders (especially log folders and history files).

4. Make sure you don't leave GateKeeper connected to WinGate indefinitely.

Just got the same problem this morning. Error message is:

"There was a problem connecting to the server. No data was received from the server during authentication. Check the spelling of your username."

That error message is caused because you're trying to log in before the WinGate engine has started, if you check the WinGate Icon in the Systray what colour is it? Blue indicates that the engine has started, Yellow is starting/stopping and Red is stopped.

If your icon shows continuously Yellow then stop the WinGate engine(make sure it is red) and delete the two history files (history.cdx and history.dbf) in the WinGate directory, then try to restart the WinGate engine.
