Redirect using computername

Postby ChrisH » Apr 13 05 1:33 am

Hi,

I have a client that is using WG to redirect packets destined for an internal LAN machine. It works fine except that periodically, as the user of this machine will power it down and up again, WG will assign a different IP than what is listed in ENS port redirection and of course packets don't get directed to the right spot then. Other than assigning static IP to this machine I was wondering if future version of WG could include option to redirect to machine based on computername or MAC address assuming WG is DHCP master? Just gets away from having to assign a bunch of static IP's- OK makes my life easier :) WG Server is XP Pro. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. You can work around this by manually creating a scope for the network and then setting up a reservation for that machine. (Right-click on the scope to create a reservation for a particular MAC address within that scope). That should serve as a workaround so you don't have all the associated pain.
