SOCKS proxy binding 'error'

Postby corcoran » Jul 25 05 10:45 pm

guys.
i've noticed that my socks proxy has stopped working - in the properties page, the bindings are set as default, but in 'status' i've got errors binding to:

LAN 3 (internal)
MS Loopback 127.0.0.1

have deleted the service and created it again, after a couple of reboots - same results.

Do you have other SOCKS proxies running on the same machine? Or some software that binds on the same port?

Just to eliminate this possibility- can you, please, stop the engine and run netstat -a
check if there is port 1080 TCP listed. Also, make sure that SOCKS server tries bounding on port 1080 and on the adapter which really exists in the system.

Or, you can simply do netstat -an >output.txt - file output.txt will have netstat results.

super - with the engine running, it doesn't look like it's listening on 1080 - but currently there's no socks proxy. will reboot this later, add the service, reboot again, run -an and post it here.
