Wingate with iPod Touch

Postby rpmiller » May 07 08 12:44 pm

Hi,

I've been using wingate on my win2k server for some time. We've had a few problems with hotmail and the like, but mostly, it's been working great.

Recently we bought an iPod touch to use in the office. This works great at home, connecting wirelessly. I have no problems browsing the net. However, at the office (with wingate), I can only get to one website for some reason. I have entered a static IP into the iPod and added that IP as an assumed user. I see wingate reporting the IP and the correct assumed user when I try to access google (or any other website), however, the requests are just listed at "HTTP://" with no URL and they keep flashing and updating at a high rate. The iPod sits there at the loading screen. Once in a while, the iPod will say I'm trying to access a secured website and prompt for a password. I enter my wingate user and pw but it does the same thing. For some reason, I can get to the site "www.drfirst.com/pda", but none of the other work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ryan,

No one in the office here has an iPhone, so we can't do much testing on this issue for you. However, are you requiring NTLM authentication in the WWW Proxy?

I did have a friends iPhone connected through my WinGate gateway at home , but we had no troubles from WinGate, only a nightmare with the wireless access point.

Try making an Everyone Unrestricted policy in the WWW Proxy and see if that alleviates the issue.
