Recently we have added some new machines to our network and it seems that after these new machines were added we began to occasionally notice multiple socket errors throughout the day. Some days go by with no errors, other days we have five or six within an hour's time. When this happens, none of the clients as well as the server are able to access the internet through the browser. All local shares and resources are still able to be accessed. Sometimes, the issue resolves itself after a minute or two. Other times, we must manually stop and start the Wingate service. We are currently running version 6.2.2 on a dedicated Server 2003 box.
Initially, I thought it may be a licensing issue since we only have a license for 25 concurrent users. However, I have been monitoring the number of connections in the Activity tab and I don't think I have ever seen it go over 20 even when we are having problems. Also, I wouldn't think that if that were the case, it would lock everyone out, just the additional users over and above 25.
I am new here at the company (been here just under two months) and am just beginning to get acquainted with wingate, so please bear with me if I am missing something obvious. Also, I plan on upgrading to 6.5.3 at some point, however I want to give myself ample time to test it beforehand.
Any suggestions on things to monitor or check out would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
