Recommened Hardware/software

I am getting ready to replace the machine my Wingate software is on.

I am on a DSL line...
My main server behind Wingate is a Windows 2003 Advanced server and is the Domain controller
current system is a single (non Hyperthread) 2.8 CPU and 1 gig of ram.

I am looking to install a Dual 2.8 (Hyperthread capable with 2 gig of ram

1) Will the dual be over kill?
If so, what's the recommended...
2) I can install XP Pro or Windows 2003 Server...
Prefered?

Recommended system specifications depends on a few things. You should ask yourself the following questions.
- How many users will WinGate be serving?
- Will there be any other services installed on this computer or will it be a dedicated WinGate machine?
- Will you be using any plugins?

I would recommend at least 1GB of memory, 2GB if you have plugins.
A single 2.8ghz core should get the job done very sufficiently. Although dual core would be nice, it could be considered overkill for WinGate 6.x.
If you can use Windows 2003, I definitely recommend it over Windows XP. As of SP2, XP enforces a limit of 10 half open network connections. This is far to little for any client/server service. 2003 is not effected by this limit.

I think I just located a Single 2.8 with hyperthreading...

I am new (few months) to using Wingate. I am a convert from Winproxy.
I have no plugin's (yet) and am woundering
Are there any new patches to the V6.5.2 Build 1217?
Is there a scheduled release date for V7?

There is a new release of 6.x coming up. It will be version 6.6.0. This version includes the new WWW Proxy server developed for WinGate 7 which has improved significantly. WinGate 7 is still in the works.
