How to combine Wingate Keeper 6.6.1 with avast! antivirus

Postby Yanto Chiang » Jul 22 09 3:48 pm

Dear Mr./Mrs.,

We had been using avast! antivirus and would like to combine with Wingate keeper 6.6.1 (new version) on our environment.
Is there any advice for this issues?
Because we has been tried with them and didn't found any solved information for this, specially when we tried to blocked some website with avast! antivirus and not valid for wingate keeper proxy.

Please kindly advice

Hi Yanto,

The only AV solution that works with WinGate is the Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate plugin. This addon gives WinGate the ability to scan HTTP, FTP and e-mail traffic through your server. You can find out more information about Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate from the following URL.

If you are only intending to use Avast to protect the WinGate computer, then that should be no problem for WinGate. Just make sure that you configure Avast so that it does not scan the WinGate engine, or any files in the WinGate directory.

Hi Logan,

Thanks for your prompt respon,

So far there is no any problem with avast and wingate, but the issues is when we would like to run wingate and avast feature like example the simple things like to activate URL Block (Avast! antivirus feature) but each clients under wingate proxy still can access to blocked website.

Is there any configuration need to change like to shut down one of features from avast or wingate or is there any others solution?

Please kindly advice.

Regards,
Yanto

I recommend that you use WinGate's built in internet access policies in WinGate to control what websites your users are allowed access, rather than relying on a third party product. Here is a knowledgebase article that describes how to do this.

Hi Logan,

We had tried this case, and can run smoothly as well as we needed.
Anyway, we would like to enable mail server protection with avast combine with wingate. Is it possible to combine these features?

Please kindly advice

What version of AVAST should I download? Home edition? Linux home edition? There are other choices too. I need something free, and that not only scans for viruses but will REMOVE them. I dont want AVG. I need info about avast. Thanks.

The only AV product that Qbik supports is the Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate plugin. Here's a link to the KAV for WinGate product page of our website.
