Allowed times for specific file extensions

Postby matrixthe » Sep 19 05 3:57 pm

Hello guys, I am having difficulties creating a policy which will allow certain file extensions to be downloaded on a specified time during the day. I tried but I am not sure whether it is correct or not. I have a proxy policy which denies all day and night .mp3, .mpg, .mov, etc. I need to allow downloading of these files from 12 AM to 6 AM only eveyday. Please help me to create the best policy for this.

Hi,

So you have a policy which bans files ending in .mp3, .mpg, .mov etc and it's working well?

To allow them to download for a specified time you could create a second policy which does not have a file restriction, and set the allowed time from 12am to 6 am. Because WinGate uses the most permissive policy it will check both policies before deciding whether to allow the file to download, if it is between the allowed times it will let it go, otherwise it will apply the first policy and deny it.
