Incoming email problem

Postby suporteagro » Mar 16 12 2:59 am

Dear support,

I'm facing some problems with my Wingate Server that causes message files stay in the ...\Mail\spool\incoming folder.
I would like to know if there is some way to force the deliver of these messages.

Thanks,
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel

the .msg files in there get moved out when they are processed, which only happens after a matching .rcp file is created in that folder. Do you see any .rcp files in there with the same numeric name?

If not, these files may be aborted sends. The way to tell is if you open the .msg file, if there is a dot on a line by itself at the end, it's complete, else it was aborted and you can just delete the file.

Hi Adrien,

There was no .rcp file in the folder.
I opened some .msg files and they seemed to be aborted sends, so I deleted them.

Wingate should not have deleted these files automatically?
In this case almost 500 files were "orphans", awaiting interaction. This can represent a significant waste of space.

Thanks,
Gabriel

Hi

yes normally WinGate should be cleaning these up when a mail is aborted. Do you know how frequently these files were being created? We may be able to track down the cause by enabling debug logging on the SMTP server.
