I need to restrict access to MSN Messenger and followed the instructions of an article I found in Wingate's KB. It talks about blocking the port of Messenger so I did that and it worked but something strange is happening with some configuraton. The article says I must select the 2 following checkboxes in the Port Range Configuration window:
"Local computers to the Wingate PC"
"Local computers to the Internet"
I do that and press OK until I get to the main Wingate window and I press the SAVE button. When I go back to the Port Range Configuration window I see that those 2 checkboxes are no longer enabled but only the "Internet computers to the Wingate PC" which is selected by default.
This is strange because the result of blocking Messenger is achieved so I suppose that it works as long as I do not go to the Port Range Configuration again and press OK without selecting the 2 checkboxes mentioned above.
Is Wingate responsible for this issue or I am doing something wrong?
Also, is it possible to restrict MSN Messenger access to a group of users or IP's ?
