Second NIC not working properly

Postby Doog » Nov 14 05 11:13 pm

I have added a second network card to my Wingate Server. I have tried using DHCP and static addresses but cannot get the connectivity working. The original LAN card (192.168.0.1) still works find but the second card (192.168.1.1) cannot get to 192.168.0.1. From a PC (192.168.1.2) connected via a hub to 192.168.1.1 I can ping both ways (i.e. pinging 192.168.1.1 from 192.168.1.2 works and vice versa) but I cannot ping 192.168.0.1 or any other device on the network.

When I try and use DHCP to assign an address to card (either in the server or PC) it fails to fin the server.

Have you set up the new interface properly (internal/external)? What is the new card' model and make?

I have made some progress. I can now ping the other network card but have no connectivity. For clarity, I can ping 192.168.0.2 from 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.1 (I changed the address range because my eyes kept getting confused). This means I can ping from both cards in the Wingate server. What I cannot get is a connection to the Internet from the 10.x.x.x network.

The network card is a Realtek 10Mbs.

What model of Realtek? It is not 8029, is it?

Yes it is an RTL8029. It is configured as internal.

Then you have to start an application called WGOptions (it's in Wingate menu start menu), switch to Hardware page and tick "8029 workaround" checkbox. After pushing OK button, you have to reboot the machine.
