Which database to use whe WinGate is installed in Windows 7?

Postby ahkow » Oct 02 13 11:03 pm

Hi,
We are planning to try WinGate 8 in Windows 7. There will be no Windows Server in the network. Most clients will use Windows Vista Home and Windows 7 Home.
Which user database should we use?
Should we setup Windows 7 HomeGroup ?

Thanks!

Hi

If you have no active directory, that leaves

* Windows user database (in the OS, manage computer > users and groups
* WinGate user database

Either of these should work ok.

Have you used HomeGroup before? I'm not certain if it creates a shared credential store, so that you could use the same user/pass to log into all machines in the same HomeGroup without having had to specifically create an account in each machine first.
