Redundant internet

Postby JeffRap » Jul 20 06 3:04 am

I have 1 computer with two internet connections
1) A wireless modem and
2) LAN internet connection via DSL.

I need to have constant internet connection, no lapses. Is it possilbe to use wingate to make a proxy that can share both of these internet connections so that if one goes down during a file xfer or something, the other connection will automatically take over? In essence have an auto switching redundant internet connection?

Yes, you can do it with dead gateway detection in WWW proxy, for example.

Dead gateway detection

Postby JeffRap » Jul 20 06 9:29 pm

Ok,

1) can I adjust how long it would be before it would consider a gateway to be "dead".

2) do you have instructions how to set this up?

3) once the gateway is not "dead" will it revert to the primary gateway again?

4) have others set up this type of "dead gateway detection" for these purposes.

5) I am using this because I play online poker, and there is no disconnect protection, and I dont want to lose my bets that have been placed if one of my internet connections is dead. Is this the best thing to hand this issue?

Thanks for your help on this.
