ssl inspection

Postby Talicada » Oct 14 14 2:52 am

So, I'm trying to intercept all https on my setup, I have a certificate on the server pointing to * and then I placed those on my laptop into the trusted root certification authorities folder. Now whenever I go to a https website it says "The connection was interrupted". Any help?

Thanks,

HI

when you say you're intercepting https, what are you intercepting it with? Is this a WinGate WWW proxy on port 443, with SSL cert on the binding?

We don't recommend that, since you can't reject requests that way within the protocol. The only supported way for https inspection is if the browser uses the proxy. That's the only scenario where the browser uses HTTP first to set up the connection so that this can be rejected. Otherwise the browser talks TLS immediately which there's no mechanism to reject within TLS.
