Nothing works

Postby mattiske » Aug 08 06 1:43 am

Our Wingate server died a horrible death and we have had to reinstall Wingate on another old NT machine.
However, we cannot get anything to work now, ie WWW Proxy server and POP3 Proxy Server don't work.

This is what we get in the log for WWW Proxy Server:

It can't resolve names.
Where do I start looking for the problem?

It's all about adapter order under NT4.
If the WinGate server has 2 adapters, one connected to the ADSL modem and the second to the internal office LAN, then make sure that in precedence, the one connected to the Internet is above the one for the LAN (ie. in the bindings tab).
Of course, installing WinGate on something a little younger than NT4 wouldn't be a bad move either.

Now we have to resolve what happens with licencing and activation when the original machine on which WinGate was installed dies suddenly and the customer wants to reinstall Wingate on another PC, without having to buy another n user Enterprise licence, but gets told by the activation system that this key has already been installed on another PC.

Hi

Best option if you need to emergency install another machine is to activate a trial and contact us, we can deactivate your license for you. We're working on a web interface to allow people to do this themselves.
