VPN through WinGate - succeeds but unable to browse

Running WinGate 4.5.2 on a Windows 2000 server. I'm trying to setup VPN through WinGate and can successfully make PPTP connections onto the network. An IP address is successully assigned to the RAS client 192.168.0.5

Unfortunately that's about all I can do. I can't browse the network etc.

When I look at Gatekeeper I see that all activity from 192.168.0.5 is be blocked - presumably because it's on the WAN network card. Am I on a hiding to nothing here, or is there a configuration change I can make to allow the RAS clients to function on the network?

i'm having the exact same problem, but with version 5.x! if i look at the firewall tab, i can see all my requests are being blocked - which even prevents me from mapping drives. if i turn off the wingate firewall, all works fine. any ideas would be very much appreciated!!

what interface are the VPN clients connecting to the WinGate server on?

Is this a PPTP client behind WinGate connecting out, or a PPTP server behind WinGate with the clients connecting in through WinGate?

Also we had some issues with PPTP with early versions of 5.x, which exact version are you running?

it is the latest version of wingate - i just downloaded today.

the VPN client is connecting to a PPTP server behind WinGate (actually on the same server as WinGate)

Win NT has RAS/PPTP setup, and IP is configured to assign an IP via DHCP.

the client connects to the public IP on the server which is protected by WinGate and authenticates successfully. i can see the RAS Admin program assign the port and assign an IP. on the VPN client i can do an IPCONFIG and see that NT/RAS has assigned and IP successfully.

when i perform a "net use" command to map a drive, the firewall is blocking the DHCP assigned IP of the VPN client (192.168.0.59) to anything going to the server's private IP (192.168.0.2). if i remember i see ports 139 and 445 being blocked.

i see no reason why the firewall would block any of this as it is coming from a non-public IP to a non-public IP.

as soon as i set the firewall protection to "None" i can map drives and do just about anything.

I've got exactly the same situation as Chuckh.

Windows 2000 server with WinGate installed, and incoming PPTP connection. Authenticates ok, and RRAS shows the connection as active. A DHCP address is obtained. However any other network traffic is blocked by WinGate.
