Wingate 5.2.2 Causes Windows Protection Error

Postby willodene » Jan 17 04 9:14 pm

Just updated to Wingate 6-user on two different sites using Win98SE systems as Wingate servers.
Both crash with Windows protection error on boot-up.
If bypass qbikhk98.vxd, systems boot OK.
Of course Wingate does not work properly, and cannot use as proxy.

Is this a known problem and is there a fix?

Can you provide us with the list of network cards you've got installed on this machine?

First site is on-board Intel chipset (uses latest Gigabyte motherboard with Celeron 2GB processor), but can't recall the Intel model number (I can check when I go to site Monday).

This one is inconsistent with its boot - I have found that it will sometimes boot OK, but Wingate still doesn't load properly. However most times it won't reboot, but disabling qbikhk98.vxd all works OK (except Wingate).

Second site is PCI 10/100 card with RTL 8139 chipset, on an older Celeron 1700 machine running ASUS motherboard.
This one will not boot up at all until qbikhk98.vxd is disabled.

Right. Would you like me to send you our test driver - we have nailed some problems with RTL cards and this driver is being tested at the moment. If you drop me an email I'll send you this new driver right away.
