Are open ports needed?

Postby Tappers » Mar 26 07 11:21 pm

I am trying to connect to the internet through a computer, that has all ports open with WGIC.
I am able to connect and login, but everything times out.
Do I need to have any ports on my router open to connect to the proxy?
Or is it just a matter of setup?

Sorry if this has come up before, I tried search but it gave me a mountain of posts.

The WGIC connection method requires the LAN Client to have a DNS Server set that can resolve internet domain names.

ports usually are only needed to be opened to allow traffic into your network from the internet (i.e. to connect to internal servers).

So for LAN clients connecting out to the Internet, you shouldn't need to open any ports.

when you say connect and login, do you mean to WinGate or to a site on the internet?
