authentication problem

Feb 03 04 6:25 pm

I am trying to use W2K authentication for WinGate. I have changed the database options to use the W2K database and to use these passwords, I have changed the System Policies to restrict by security level, I have changed the Proxy Server service to 'use Java authentication client as required' and I have specified bindings for the remote control service. But now I am getting the following message in the History tab when a browser window responds in the Java authentication prompt... 'WinGate Login: GateKeeper not supported - use SSPI method'. The client sees 'no response' in the Java box.

HELP! I can't figure this one out...

I'm at home at the moment, so I can't check code / help files, but I believe you cannot use the W2K userdatabase with Java authentication. Check the help file, it provides confirmation of that.

You could try it with WinGate / NT Userdatabase selected.

From the help file:

NT-based authentication will NOT work for (read the note below on why it does not work):

· WWW Proxy Service (via the Java Client),

· SOCKS5 Proxy (passed in plain-text as specified in RFC1929),

· Telnet_Proxy (passed in plain-text).
