Windows XP Pro and Internet Connection Sharing

Feb 10 04 5:26 am

I have two computers, both running XP Pro. The Host computer has an Internet connection via a Realtek RTL8139 PCI card and an NTL Set top cable Modem. It also has a Zoom 4117 Wireless USB adapter for the internal connection. The Client computer just has a Zoom 4117 Wireless USB adapter. The internal connection works very well, but as soon as I install or activate ICS, the internal network is lost and therefore the Client cannot connect to the internet. This has happened with Microsoft ICS and also with Sygate ICS.
Does anyone think that Wingate might be able to provide ICS without all the problems I've had over the last FOUR days?

I'm not sure about Sygate, but I know that when you use MS ICS it changes your internal IP to 192.168.0.1 (on the server machine) so maybe thats why the connection no longer worked!? WinGate will not change anything, and thus you shouldn't experience any problems. What is your internal IP range? Is the LAN client getting its IP assigned via DHCP or are you statically assigning IP's yourself?!

Sygate also spells trouble - it interferes with the way QBIK driver hooks into the system.
