Hi,
I am new to WinGate, and Wireless Networking. I have a wirless network (ad-hoc) which I want to share a dial-up connection. One computer is called MainComputer (192.168.1.1), the other is Laptop(192.168.1.2). I have the default gateway on the laptop set to 192.168.1.1. They both can ping eachother, but when using WGIC on the Laptop, it does not see a server, and cannot access the web. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Neotek
I take from your post that the clients IP address details are being set statically?. As a requirement for WGIC, you will also need to set the DNS option on the client using WGIC to the internal IP of the WinGate server.
(192.168.1.1).
Once this is done also check in the WGIC applet that the WinGate server is displayed under the WinGate servers tab. Or you can even add the server manually.

Hi,
I have set the default gateway and DNS server to the Main Computer. When I go to the server drop down box I do not see the servers. Also, if I use wingate does it split the speed (if I have a 56Kbps modem) to 28.8 Kbps for each machine?

Check in GateKeeper that the GDP and WRP services are both running and have policies that will allow the laptop to connect. (This should normally be at defaults)
Speed is not split but shared.

Hi,
I have one more question. I still have not tested out your solution. Is it possible to dial up to the internet through the client so that I do not have to go to the server and connect to the internet there?

Yes, you need to setup the Dialer Profile and the Dialer itself to allow this. (Enable the profile, enter the username+password, etc.)

Hi,
It is working now. Thank you so much for your help. For some reason my IP information got reset. You provided excellent support, and will recommend this program to anyone. Thanks again!
