Cannot access secure web sites - timeout errors

Apr 23 07 6:44 am

I have a working network with a Windows 98SE server running WinGate version 6.2.1

The other PCs run Windows ME and are working fine.

I am trying to add a laptop running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 which won't play properly.

From this laptop, trying to access:
sitecontrol.supanames.co.uk
fails with "The connection timed out" although I can browse plenty of other sites. If I try to access my internet banking sites they also fail to load the pages that prompt for login details.

It works on the other PCs on the network.

I have followed the advice in "Important info for Windows XP SP2 users" (installed WinXPSP2Patch.exe) and that has not fixed it.

I have the laptop set up with the DNS and gateway pointing at the server that is running the GateKeeper.

The laptop has the Windows Firewall installed. With it enabled the laptop refuses to see the WinGate server. Regardless of whether the firewall is disabled and the WinGate client set to enabled, or whether the firewall is enabled and the WinGate client disabled, I cannot access secure web sites.

Hi,
Can you connect to these sites from Wingate machine itself?
