open outgoing TCP

Feb 23 04 9:06 pm

Hello I am using wingate version 5.0.4 without ENS and VPN. I want to open outgoing tcp port for my clients so they can access one webbase application.
kindly guide me the procedure so I can open outgoing port. The error I get when I open webbase application is mentioned below.

"If you are behind a firewall or within a company local area network (LAN), you will need to open outgoing TCP connections to Port 9999 on your proxy server. "

Thanks in Advance

Hi

If you don't have ENS installed, then the Firewall part of WinGate is not really operating. This means that these ports are already open, so there should be nothing stopping WinGate connecting out to port 9999

You will need to right click in the services list and create a new TCP mapping. The text is not 100% clear on the direction of the mapping (Into your WinGate server or FROM your WinGate server) so I'll describe for clients behind WinGate going out to a different system.

1. Set the TCP mapping name to something recognisable.
2. Set the port number to 9999
3. In the mappings area, add the IP address + port number you want to connect to. (Port number should be 9999 again)

That should be it. Out of curiosity, is this the Web2SMS client for moblinkgsm ?

Yes it is the Web2SMS client for moblinkgsm.
So I should add ip address of mobilinkgsm.com with the port 9999 in tcp mapping in services?

I believe so, but from the message they return I've not been able to figure out which direction it should be.
