Error: Caught socket exception in CWWWSession:...

Feb 25 04 2:34 am

When client machines try to connect to the internet, they get an HTTP 404 error and an error is recorded in the WWW Proxy Server log file:

Error: Caught socket exception in CWWWSession: :HTTPProcessRequest () Host name lookup for 'www.wingate.com' failed - terminating

If, on the client machine, you continually look up different website addresses, it will eventually connect and, once connected, there are no problems for that dial-up session.

I have tried changing the ports on server and client machines from 80 to 81 as suggested at www.dfaguides.com/past34.htm, but it still happens.

Is this a known issue? or have I am I missing something...

Is this in the time while the server is actually dialing ?

Yes - it does seem to happen only until the connection is established.
Once the connection is established it works fine.
Please say you've got an easy config for me!!!...

Until you have a connection the Internet, DNS requests will faill. (Hence, the lookup for www.wingate.com will fail, etc.) There's not too much we can do about that.
