Need help to configure DNS/WINS resolver

Feb 27 04 5:32 am

I'm french, so excuse me for the faults...

Wingate runs on a server wich don't run any DNS and I don't have configured any host or lmhost file on this server.
On the other hand, I have 2 DC server which run DNS and WINS

How do I configure the DNS/WINS resolver on Wingate?
Do I need the DNS of my ISP or the IP of one of my DC server?

Hi there

Are you running Active Directory?
If so then can I suggest you read our knowledge base articles about configuring WinGate DNS for the active directory. These can be found here:

http://support.qbik.com/index.php_a=kno ... ubcat&_i=1

In other cases
WinGate will automatically use the DNS address issued by the ISP on the Internet connection interface(NIC) it uses, without any DNS servers being needed to be listed in the resolver initially.
However
When you enter a server in the DNS resolver in Gatekeeper this is the DNS server that WinGate will attempt use for first for DNS resolution.

As for the WINS server,
You can place the IP address of the WINS server in the WINS section of network properties of the Network card on the WinGate Server that
connects to the LAN.

Erwin
