wingate 3 and dsl modem

Mar 23 04 7:04 pm

i am using wingate 3 on a windows nt 4 (sp6) machine to share internet connection across a local network. been using this for quite a while using a dial-up 56k connection.

i recently installed a dsl connection. it's an adsl using a dsl modem attached to a second NIC.

i've configured the second NIC to obtain IP address dynamically from the ISP, as instructed by my ISP. i haven't changed any configurations to wingate just yet.

how do i share this connection to the network?

Hi Vikspar

Can I suggest you take a read of our knowledge base article on configuring DSL and Hispeed internet connection. It covers your scenario and explains how WinGate needs to be configured for this situation. You can find it on our Website here:

If you have any more queries let us know.

hi!

thanks for the reply.

i've read thru those knowledge base articles but the instructions there are for a more recent version of wingate. i'm using wingate 3 and might not be able to upgrade soon.

i was able to share the connection when i include in the bindings and interface settings the dynamic ip that my isp assigns when i connect. have to do this manually for all services. however, only socks and the www proxy is working. smtp and pop are not.

there should be a better way to do this in wingate 3.
