Since Wingate implemented the ENS feature, I can't manage to use it with my ADSL connection, and here's what I found out.
For connecting to my ISP, I have to use a RASPPP program from Lightcomm, and the program installs two network protocols on windows, NDISWAN and PPP over Ethernet miniport.
I use Win98 SE, and whenever I try to install wingate with ENS support, and reboot it for configuring, windows can't boot, and says Windows error protection, reboot the computer.
Only uninstalling Wingate or the RASPPP program I can get rid of the problem, so there is a conflict between ENS and this particular one.
I need the ENS and I need the program, but until some suggestion appears, I'm having to use another windows proxy program.

Hi,
It looks like you're having a driver problem with the ENS driver, we sometimes do have problems with PPPoE. I don't know why you'd need to change the way you connect to your ADSL router just because of the ENS though, can you tell us some more about your setup?
In the meantime can you disable the ENS and just use proxy connections?

Matt

Apparently there is a bug in the Windows NDIS driver. Why don't you download and install the PPPOE driver from Robert Schlabbach (free of charge) and the NDIS budgfix from the following address:
http://adsl-support0.de/win_down.htm (download the file RASPPPOE_098B and 243199GER8.EXE)
This may solve your problems.

What do you mean by using proxy connections? I need ENS because I want to use the shared connection with a client machine running Linux on it.
What do you need to know about my set up? The server is a P3 running a Win98SE with 2 ethernet cards, one for the ADSL and the other one for the LAN. On the LAN I use both a Windows client and a Linux client.
I just tried that Windows fix from a reply to my post, and another network protocol, which appears to be the same as my old RASPPPoE, but it didn't help, all the same error.

I'm still waiting for a work around from Qbik. Doesn't anyone will reply to this problem?
And Wingate is version 5.2.2

Hi,
Have you tried 5.2.3 driver? We'vee made a couple of changes in the driver that might help fix this problem.

Yes, I tried the 5.2.3 wingate version when it came out, but I switched back after seeing some people having problems here with 5.2.3
The protocols installed for my adsl dun are NDISWAN and PPP over Ethernet miniport.
If I install them after having installed Wingate with ENS, right after installing the protocols, when Windows asks for rebooting to take effect, even not rebooting, some seconds later a blue screen appears causing a general fault on VXD something. I don't exaclty remember the filename, but it had QBIK on the first letters.
I tried many workarounds, but it doesn't works in the end.
