Time Restrictions for ports

Apr 09 04 4:42 am

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way to block traffic using certain ports at various times of the day? Eg.

Deny access to port 6699 from 10am to 10pm.

Thank-you

Hello,

In this type of scenario you need to set up two policies for the users/groups that you want to be restricted from using this port. The first policy you would specify a time restriction of 10 AM to 10 PM when user has rights and under the Advanced tab set a Filter with criterion This criterion is NOT met if Server port number equals 6699. The second policy would have the following time restriction: Add an included time of all day every day and add an excluded time of 10 AM to 10 PM . Put no port criteria in this policy.

The first policy gives rights from 10 AM to 10 PM but no port 6699. The second gives rights from 10 PM to 10 AM with no port restriction. All other aspects of both policies should be the same. ie Ban lists, authentication level etc.

Depending on how you have your clients connecting to WG server (NAT,WGIC or direct proxy) would dictate which service(s) to put this policy on. NAT, put policy on Extended Networking, WGIC, put policy on Winsock Redirector Service and directly, the appropriate service.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you fare.
