Cant get client to see server

Apr 12 04 6:30 am

Hi,

I have just added a new PC to my home network (a p2 300mhz Laptop) however, there dosen't seem to be a thing I can do to get the client PC to obtain an IP address from the wingate server.
It is running widows 2000 and is configured properly (automaticly obtain ip address) and the server is running NAT.

I even tried installing WGIC on the client computer, but no luck : (

Does anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening and how I might go about solving it?

Thanks ; )

Hi there

Have you set up the Server with a Private IP Address and configured WinGate's DHCP service to Fully Automatic mode?.

Is the DHCP service in WinGate showing as started?

What IP address range(scope) has the WinGate Server been configured to issue.?

If you give the Server a static private IP address then WinGate will usually use this address to determine the range of IP's it can allocate when in fully automatic mode. For example setting the IP address on the LAN Network card of the server to 192.168.1.1. WinGate DHCP will then start issuing addresses in the same range (eg 192.168.1.2, etc).

Regards
Erwin

Thanks for the reply, I had assigned a static IP address to the server (192.168.0.1) but that wasn't the problem. I solved it by installing SP4 on the win 2000 comp (client). Took me a while to think of that :)

Thanks for all the help
