PC internet access through Wingate Server

Apr 13 04 10:30 am

I've been playing with Wingate as a possible replacement for a hardware router that is playing up. (And to be honest is pants)

I seem to have everything working, just 1 question.

When I access the internet on the machine that runs the Wingate server, it appears to go direct and not through the Wingate server.

Is it possible to route activity on this machine throught the Wingate server?

Or is it not necessary? I'm just thinking that it would be more secure to do it this way. Plus then it uses the firewall and everything gets logged.

The internet connection is 'Dial Up' via an ADSL USB modem.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Hi Ender,

By default the server traffic does not go through WinGate, however you can proxy the connection and force it through. If you go into IE and go to tools>internet options>connections you can set the proxy to 127.0.0.1, port 80. You should now see all activity in WinGate.

Regards,

Matt
