Virtual STB-S/-C/-T Network Adapter kills Netbios

Apr 14 04 12:22 pm

I'm pretty sure it's Netbios but I'm no expert......

Had everything running sweet, then suddenly nothing would communicate with the server (Except for internet proxy access which worked fine, but only after fiddling with various things)

Wingate showed ICMP being rejected from private addresses 192.168.0.*
ENS was still set up to default 'allow' any private traffic.

Eventually (after much confusion) I found that the Digital TV USB adapter I installed on the server had used two virtual ethernet adapters (192.168.48.21 & 192.168.48.22) and when I disabled these everything worked fine again.

With these enabled:-

Cannot ping the server.
Cannot browse the server.
Cannot print to the printer on the server.
etc.... Basically it seems to treat 192.168.0.* like an external interface.

Installed the TV adapter on the other machines no probs.

I haven't had time to play, but any idea what's going on? Any way of making Wingate totally ignore these interfaces?

Thanks for the help.

ok just been reading a few posts and found this:

http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=1578

Took MattP's advice and checked, sure enough when I enable the Virtual adapters, for some reason it changes 192.168.0.* from trusted to not trusted.

Can't try it atm, but 99% sure it will be ok now.

Just as a suggestion.....how about a dialog box asking if it's ok to change an interface status rather than just doing it? Would save a lot of hassle lol

Certainly had me pulling my hair out for a couple of hours.....

Regards.
