I an trying to use the gateway to my ISP to send mail using SMTP. My user ID on Wingate and my user ID at my ISP are different. My local ID is "name" and my login for email at my ISP is "name@domain.com"
I know Wingate can pass an alternate password to the ISP for email, but can it pass an alternate user ID?
I am using Wingate as my local email server. I don't have a static IP so I need to continue to send email through the my ISP. I am using Wingate's POP collection and it is working fine. I am using Eudora as my email client.

This did work to send mail, but is is limiting since all the mail is going through and individual's email account at the ISP. Can something like this be done per user?

Hi
When WinGate is delivering mail, there isn't really such a concept as a "user". winGate knows only about the source and destination email addresses.
So when you say per user, do you mean
a) that for different source email addresses for outbound mail you wish to use a different ISP mail server or different credentials on the ISP mailserver.
b) something else?
Sorry - I'm not clear on what you are looking for. WinGate can use different servers (with different credentials) for different destination domains, but not based on the source domain.

I was using multiple ISP's with multiple users requiring authentication for relaying. I found it very difficult to set up all the different smtp relays and authentication since it needed to be on a per account basis. An example is that I use 1and1.com for my wife and I, but my kids use kidsafemail.com. Each ISP required different authentication for each idividual user. This became too complex since I did not need the internal mail server. I just let everything pass through and this is suiting my neese.
Thanks
