Cant access pop server

I installed 5.2.3 and made some adjustments and the problem i had where mail was being held in the "holding" folder went straight through.
Great!... i thought.

Five minutes later, no one could access their pop server but internet access through wingate is fine.
I overwrote the wingate files with a copy of the previous version and access was fine, but the problem wiht the holding folder came back.
When the files banked up again, i installed 5.2.3 and they went through again but the access problem occurred again.

Now no matter what i do, no one can access their mail server (wingate) to send or recieve email. It doesnt matter which version I use.
