FTP upload always aborts at 4 minutes

May 31 04 11:02 am

FTP upload of a large file (8 MB) always aborts at the 4 minute mark. I have WG 5.2.3 with FTP proxy (800 sec. idle timeout), with ENS TR thru FTP set. Using WS_FTP95 LE FTP client, upload always fails at 4:00 minutes after starting updload. If I disable WG's FTP proxy, then upload always succeeds. What WG FTP setting is causing uploads to abort? I also turned off FTP Kapersky AV plug-in, but still uploads abort after 4 mins.

Any help is appreciated. The only way I can upload large files via FTP is to turn off Wingates FTP proxy

Since other posts have been answered by qbik, but not mine, I have to assume that mine is not taken seriously or it is a known bug with no known solution. If I've misconfigured Wingate, please tell me what I'm doing wrong, but I assure you that all FTP uploads abort after exactly 4 minutes if FTP proxy is used, and if there is a solution I'd like know what it is.

This is still a problem for me. The only way I can get large files to upload via FTP is to turn off the Wingate FTP proxy server. I have tried two FTP GUI clients: Core_FTP and WS_FTP32. Both alway fail at approx the 4 minute mark. However once Wingate's FTP proxy server is stopped, both always succeed in uploading.

Have you tried the new build, WG6?

No I have not tried WG6. I'll wait for a few months after it is released before trying. Any chance of getting help with this uploading problem on 5.2.3?

Hi,

We had a problem with FTP in version 5.2.3, could you please try with the Release Candidate and see if that works? You can export your WinGate registry settings and if you need to you can revert to 5.2.3 later, then import your reg file.

Thanks,

Matt

I upgraded to RC2. The FTP problem seems to be fixed. Yeah! But I've had one other problem with RC2. WG won't cache any www files, eventhough 5.2.3 correctly cached, and I didn't make any changes after upgrading to RC2.
