Hi all,
I have a wingate 6 (rc2) installed, windows server 2003 OS, & 256 (DSL) internet cable. My problem is...my connections will be released 2 to 3 times a day. But when i uninstalled the wingate, my ip address has been renewed. Why is that my ip address doesn't renew? What seems to be a problem? Anyone help me about this?
Thanks.

Hi there
How do you mean your connections will be released?
Do you mean your WinGate client connections are not being sorted or does WinGate stop serving requests?
Or do you mean that your DSL connection to your ISP is being dropped?
Does your DSL connection a dial up type connection which gets a new IP everytime it makes a connection.?
Or is it an "online all the time" type connection, where the external IP issued by the ISP shows up as a Network Interface in WinGate?.
If your ISP changes your external IP (and your DSL is "online all the time" type connection) then WinGate will not recognise or be able to use the new IP (interface) until the engine has been restarted.
Regards
Erwin

erwin,
Thanks for the reply...yup, my dsl connection is being dropped in my ISP. I try to release & renew using "ipconfig" command but the error message "unable to contact dhcp server". So, i have to restart my PC to renew the connection again. As i said when i uninstalled the wingate, my connection will be automatically renewed. What do you think is the problem? Pls help us...
Thanks again.

Try enabling DHCP broadcasts in ENS properties: go to the routing page and click on Advanced button. Check the DHCP checkboxes on the list.

hi all,
I tried another different proxy server and my ip network address has been renewed. Everything is ok...maybe the wingate block ip address going to the service provider upon renew of connection. Any other solution?
Pls help us.

Aye, you might need to open a firewall hole for UDP traffic on ports 67/68.
