Hello I’m using Wingate 5.0 with a DSL connection with a dynamic IP address on windows 2000 server which also runs a LAN with static private IP addresses.
Problem I’m having is that every time I get a new IP address from my ISP I have to go to the client’s workstations & manually reset & refresh the WGIC options so the connection will work again.
I know I’m not configuring the Wingate sever correctly. If anyone could guide me to the solution I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi there
Unfortunately when the ISP updates your IP address the WinGate Server has no idea this IP is updated. You will need to stop and start the WinGae engine for it to recognise the new IP address.
The updating of this new IP address on the WinGate server should not affect any of the client settings (as you mentioned that the clients all have static internal IPs.) The only affect it will have (as mentioned earlier) is changing the details of the interface on the server which WinGate uses to access the Internet.
Regards
Erwin
