Is there any way to get SIP working through Wingate?

Jun 15 04 8:36 am

I am trying to get SIP (VOIP) working through Wingate.

It uses UDP port 5060 for call setup and a random port between 16000 and 32000 for the call.

Can I create a static mapping for these ports or poke a hole in the Firewall for a certain client to get through?

I am not real familiar with Wingate, but I am trying to get this working for a few different customers.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

WinGate does not officially support VoIP so we can't guarantee that it will work. I have had a look at the SIP site and found the following information:

The default settings of some firewalls may cause problems with your SIPphone. To make your firewall SIPphone compatible simply open ports 5004 and 5060 for UDP, or if you have a System Administrator ask him/her to do it for you.

Have you opened those ports? You might have to map them through to the phone, this can be done in the Extended Networking menu on the port security tab.

Please let us know how you get on,

Matt

No go

I think that the NAT is pretty non-standard.

Does anyone know what kind of nat this is?

Full Cone
Restricted Cone
Port Restricted Cone
Symmetric
????

Thanks,

Ryan
