old wingate (2.1d) new os (2kpro) wingate terminate:-(

hi anyone,

i have a realy old version of wingate (2.1d) and i was running it on a NT4 server for years, sp5 (PDC) it never terminated, very stabel system, now i had to change to w2k pro (my network card - 3com905-TX, first model - can not be set to half duplex 10 mb in NT4, and a change to the new motorola surfboard cable modem needed this).
now i have to restart wingate service every 20 minutes or so, it terminates with "Terminated exit code 4294967295"

i restart wingate using a batch file with the line "WingateEngine -stop" and "WingateEngine -start" most of the time this works (some delay) sometimes i have to reboot the box

there is nothing else running on this box exept from Sophos Enterprize Manager to download latest virus identeties, it runs on a standard dowload (download when updates are avaleble)

i put some debug info below here just before wingate shuts down.

any help?? i now i should upgrade but its fun to make a old system work

Hi

It's been about 6 years since I last debugged version 2.1d, so my memory is totally drawing a blank.

Since then there have been a zillion bug fixes.

Have you even looked into upgrade prices? You might be pleasantly surprised. Depending on your version 2 license, you could move to version 5 (with then a free upgrade to 6) for as little as $20.
