HTTP 404 Error...

Jul 07 04 7:59 pm

Previously I was running WinGate 4 (56k modem) on Windows 98 SE and everything was going fine. Recently I upgraded it to Wingate 5.23 and run it on Windows 2003 server. I upgraded the line as well to a DSL line.

I installed a new network card for the streamyx line and set up the IP, Gateway and the DNS accordingly. Then, I configure the WWW proxy on the WinGate. After that, i was able to connect to Internet using the line. However, when my client computers (internet explorer) point to my IP and port, error HTTP 404 shows up.

Did I miss out any steps? As for your information, my LAN DNS is on another server (Win2K). When I unplug the Win2K server network cable from the switch, everyone that are pointed to my Wingate will then only be able to access the Internet. But I am not suppose to unplug the DNS server network cable.

Please help...

check that there is a valid IP address for an external DNS server in your WinGate DNS resolver configuration.
